It is possible, however there are great risks involved, and many who may have followed a similar strategy may have blown their accounts. Your broker is, of course, not showing all those results.
So I would have to say it is a matter of luck. I also think that you would have heard about anyone achieving these returns on an on-going basis. They would be richer than Gates by now.
In general the reward is commensurate with the risk you take.
