Fixed Ratio and spot forex.

A question for traders who trade fixed ratio, ala Ryan Jones

All the work I have ever studied on money management of leveraged financial instruments refers to futures and is therefore contract based and talks about number of contracts. They always round down to the number of contracts to trade. (Agressive traders may round up).

My question is because we spot traders can trade any size we like, are we better off than the guys limited to lot or contract sizes, or is it defeating the point of the fixed ratio system that is to limit the rate at which you trade extra contracts or trade position size?
