No, there is no need to do so, first of all, make a back up copy infact something went wrong.
Then just double click on the hosts file and then open in notepad and add the line if you are windows user, otherwise, just open it on a simple editor program will do.
Once you added the line and saved it, reboot your computer and see if it works.
