Interesting discussion.
To add my bit - I have a fully automated trading system, developed for/by myself, which is doing reasonably well.
However, took my five years of frustrations, lots of experimentation and lots of frustrations.
As for results - although I can sometimes out perform the system, in the long run, I seem to be unable to achieve the same results. (Suspect it's because I am only human?)
I have about 4 years (with gaps) trading results on my games account - and some 9 months trading results on my live accounts, showing that the system maintains all positions and, on average, make some adjustment to some position/order about every 4 minutes or so, Monday to Friday.
However - just like everyone else I suppose, I am always eager to find some new, hopefully better strategies etc. to incorporate into the existing software and as such, am always open to suggestions, alliances etc. because, now that finally, I am making reasonable profits, I am of the conviction that in the end, knowhow is not really only in the code but also to do with the approach, strategy etc.
