Re: best forex software? Hevquip Unfortunately, there's no trading platform/chart package for begginers. Personal preference plays a big role when it comes down to select a broker. As for learning, I think they're all aceptable. When I started, I downloaded several platforms and toyed around with them for a while. As a trader, I have some specifics needs and I know exactly what I want from the market so I was looking for a broker that at least come close to my needs. Check the spreads, but don't entice yourself with brokers offering super-low spreads. Remember, your broker is your eyes and ears on the market. Sometimes they give low spreads but when it comes down to execution, well you get the idea. To me visualization is very important. I need to read my charts from a distance. I need charts to be user-friendly and be able to adapt for quick changes in the market. I prefer to place the order in the chart itself, that saves me a ton of time. You're going to find traders everywhere telling you that this broker is better than the other one blah blah blah, much of that based on their personal experiences and most of the time their opinion is completely biased. I find this pretty silly IMHO. I personally had a situation with FXCM in 2004. But this is 2006 maybe they made changes, who knows. Remember, once your find a package that suits your needs, you're in the diver's seat. Aslo try their customer service. I suggest more than once. If you're a trader that relies heavely on indicators, or if your're looking for an specific one, check if they have it. Also check if you can get a script and program it, custom-made for you or someone else. Take your time and play with the ones you like. Go to various sites and check them very good. It took me one good year to figure out what broker to choose, among other things, before I started trading live. I am not saying you need a year but just take time . utions just released a new charting package. I try it for a while today . It's is not fit for my trading style but looks good. cheers Raul

Re: best forex software? yeah, i'm approaching this pretty cautiously, hence the reason for me saying i'm educating and overeducating myself on this. i'm not expecting to see huge returns or anything like that in the near future and understand that there has to be a good deal of knowledge on my part to see some positive results and can accept that trial and error will be part of the learning process. there's a lot of sites that come up for different forex apps, but i'm definately more interested in what others have to say as opposed to the hype.

Re: best forex software? I agree completely with feb2865 - virtually every broker has demo software, so I downloaded a variety of platforms and found what suits my trading style. It took me some time (almost two years!) before I settled into a particular platform; you HAVE to be completely comfortable with the interface, otherwise you'll end up making mistakes because you clicked on something you shouldn't have . . .

Re: Yes, FXCM could be helpful for this to some extent. Certain other softwares like MT4, Excaliber would help you in this regard.
