Rep Power

What is rep power? Some people have a green thing next to it and others have a gray one, and others have a number ...

And then to making things more complicated there's a box in the User CP, "Latest Reputation Received" with a list of some threads in it.

I would appreciate if someone could explain

some one likes/agrees with your post, they approve your post, if they disagree they disapprove post. agree gives pos reps (green) disagree gives neg reps (red) the more pos reps the more you would listen to what they have to say (well thats the idea)
