Congrats, TC on your "winnings" and keep up the, should I say, good work? anyways, looks like you have the right mentality.

Peace
What is the StratoBlaster method? Thanks!

Re: Am I just lucky or on to something?

tcrouch,

I would say you are at the start of a long journey that has started on a good first leg. I was laughing when you talked about Texas Holdem because I play all the time. In fact my meager profits I make at poker get put in my forex account. Playing poker and trading will make you stronger in both endeavors. I play holdem much tighter after my trading knowledge grew. It goes back to that whole paitence thing you are talking about. You have to let the good cards come to you and let the good long trending trades develop!
One thing I heard you mention in your first post was about reading the news about forex etc.. I really turned a corner in my trading when I quit looking at any news about forex period. However you do need to be aware of the timing of any major economic news release. My problem was that I would spend alot of time reading the daily technical forex reports (fxstreet.com;forexnews.com) etc.. I would try to trade in the direction that they would suggest and I had mixed results. I became much more consistent when I would let the price action alone or moving averages tell me what the market is doing in the 15min,30min,1hr,4hr,daily/timeframes. Who cares what anybody else thinks about the market, you can obvisouly figure that out on your own. Although I am hesitant to say anything because like that one person said "if it aint broke than dont fix it". I hope this perspective will help your thoughts etc.. Good Luck in both your games.

I dont play poker but i trade like a poker player . When i put a trade on and i say trade half lot I consider that an anti. If it breaks out in my direction to a new high i double my anti on the pull back . And keep adding lots on pull backs till it doesnt make new highs. I think thats how poker players do it i think . When its a winning hand( trending in your direction) you bet the farm .

Re: Am I just lucky or on to something?

MRippy...thanks for your reply. I must admit, I've had a rough week. And after reading your reply, the one thing that struck me is your comment that after you quit reading the news, analysis, etc, you turned a corner.

The reason I find it interesting, is that in this week of ups and downs, lots of downs for me, the wins I am making are exactly as you said, by watching the chart, not the news.

It is so true, and funny, how close trading as a hobby is similiar to Hold-em as a hobby.

Truly, I am addicted to both. :-)

That's about it. A good player doesn't play many hands, but when he does and the odds are stacking up for him, he must become very, very aggressive. Also, you must have the ability to stop dead in your tracks though when it becomes apparent that your hand is beat, regardless of how much you've put into the pot so far...just like trading.
