backtesting program - help needed Can anyone recommend a good, easy to use and possibly free backtesting program? I looked into Meta 4 but I also noticed some comments about its reliability. Thanks.

Re: backtesting program - help needed luca, I suggest that you start off with Excel. You will be amazed at what you can test with Excel and it will also allow you to refine your ideas about what you want to test. I have written some very sophisticated back testing stuff in C# but I often go back to Excel if I want to quickly test a strategy or aspects of it. Hope this helps.

Re: backtesting program - help needed Thank you. I have often used excel myself and now I was wondering whether I should learn something more sophisticated. I'll stick with that.

Re: backtesting program - help needed Nice work DeltaGuy! Thanks for sharing that. I'm in the middle of the information gathering process abt Forex and have been looking for spreadsheets and Matlab scripts. I agree that Excel is good for quick'n dirty formula testing for any kinds of data, I use it almost daily at work for analysis of measurement data. (temperatures, voltages and currents and such)
