Phil,
I've noticed your overly enthusiastic endorsement of the DEMA. I had asked on another post if it was a Displaced EMA. I don't believe you replied, if you did, I missed it. I did see on another post you called it a Double EMA. Exactly what is a Double EMA? I'm sure I'm not the only one on these boards that would like to know precisely what it is you're raving about.
Thanks,
Nat

Hi bobnat,
This is what I got from google
Basically its just a standard EMA calculated on another standard EMA instead of the price
Double Exponential Moving Average
Indicator Library | Back | Home
Double Exponential Moving Average (DEMA) is created by calculating the Exponential Moving Average on the first Exponential Moving Average.
The Double Exponential Moving Average can be traded in the same fashion as the Simple Moving Average or Exponential Moving Average. When price crosses the moving average and increases, a continuing uptrend can be expected.
Formula
DEMA = EMA(EMA(Price, F1), F2)

Hi TrendlineBreak
Many thanks for your time and advice as well.
I am busy setting up the 60 min chart with indicators as suggested. Looks interesting.

Hi Firedave,
To create it in xtick just create a normal EMA and put it on a chart, then create another EMA with the same period and when you get to the "apply to" sceen, intead of applying it to the price, apply it to the first EMA.
I've never used a DEMA but will have a study with them tonight.

No problem Firedave.
I must be honest that when I started this thread I didn't really expect any response. I'm amazed that people have taken the time and effort with their advice and chart postings etc I am not alone out their ! lol
Keep it rolling !

Firedave,
I've had a play with the Double EMA, actually turned it into a triple EMA on the chart below.
In xtick add a 2 EMA to a 15 min chart, then add a 5 EMA of the 2, then add a 5 EMA of the 5 (hope this makes sense).
I have greyed out the 2 and highlighted the other in red and green, as you can see they give similar crosses to a 5 + 8 EMA system but are a lot smoother and quite a few of the false signals dissappear, anyway have a play and see what you think
