No problem, but if u are one year in the real game, why you are asking such a questions just now ? I think that trader after one year exp. should know this already.

Sorry for inconvenience.

For me is better to do intraday small pips trading and close positions at daily basis. And i made more trades per month this way so i can learn more quickly.

One book that I am waiting to get my hands on is the upcoming release by Kathy Lien, Head of Research @ FXCM. She writes for Stocks & commodities, Currency Trader Magazine etc.; reading her insightful commentaries here and there thus far has rocket-fueled my striking ability and sharpened my weaponry exponentially.

God, do I love it so!

Great info, I will make a note of these other books !

Happy Trading

Re: Can you really make a living from FX ?

To all those who laugh at 10 pips a day, you are understimating the power of compounding. If you could sustain a 10 pips net profit each trading day, starting out with a small account (let's say US$20k), you'd be a millionare within three years. Just create a quick Excel sheet if you dont believe me.

Sustainable 10 pips/day? where can I sign up!!!

Did you catch the EUR\USD this morning ?

I missed the the rally at 1.1642 up to 1.1703 (sleeping) but DID ride it backdown to where its at right now at 1.1673

Yeah, I played it!

Now go back and check out the move that started @ 03:15 on Eur/Usd @ the intraday 1.1642 low on 15-min. chart.

Then follow the move from 09:15 as it rocketed upward.

Then check out the magnificent trendline with at least 6 contact, confirming points.

Add a Macd, including the histogram; then sit back and revel in the magic.

I think we have one more push up toward the general 1.1770 area. If she gets down to the 200-period moving average on 15-min., that could generate the final rocketblast up to the 1770 area.

Then down to retest the 1600 area once again.

The market humbles us all.

There is no shame in being a student. Slow or fast learning is irrelevant.

A staff member giving a tour of a hospital to a dignitary was asked, "Were there any great men born here?" ... Her reply? .... "No, nothing but little children!"

Re: Can you really make a living from FX ?

i don't understand why people say a small account can't trade longer time frames. my account started small and is growing each week and that's all i use are the longer time frames.

i am guessing you're putting more on the pip value than you should...???

Though I'm at 50 leverage, i use a 50 pip stop loss. if the stop loss is hit (which rarely happens) it will equal 2% of my account balance. This will be followed whether my account is $20.00 or $100,000.

I suck big time at intraday trading, but the 4 hour, daily, weekly, monthly i am able to do rather well.
