Confused about buy/sell in forex eur/usd

Hello All Forex Experts!!!
Please enlighten me in this small issue. Currently I am just doing the demo trade. Lets say I open a forex account in US$. Now I am going long with euro ie if i buy euro at current rate and if the price of euro goes up against us$, then i can sell euro to get more us$ back. But the thing I am confused is if initially if i knew euro will fall against us$, what can i do? I found on the trading software i can click SELL(ie sell eur and buy us$) which doesn't make sense because all i have is us$, so how can I see euro? Also about the signal, DOJI is same as spinning tops?
Thanks for your advise

Buy or Sell

You are just selling the currency pair........you don't actually sell EUR and buy USD......There is no settlement. You can buy or sell any currency pair and make a profit. Just get the market direction right.........Like today the USD/JPY price depreciated and moved down. If you would have sold USD/JPY when the market opened you would have made a profit by now. However, you are not really selling dollars and buying Yen.

Long or short

Thanks, your advise was very helpful because I got confused with the trading platforms button's message. Lets say when I click SELL it means(selling euro and buying usd) and when i click BUY(it says buy euro sell usd). IF its a pair thing then it should say like SELL pair or BUY pair.
So you are saying you can make profit if you are right about market direction(i.e buy(long) if you think its going up and sell(short) if you think its going down? Initially i used to think you can only make profit if market goes up, like a real state deal.
thanks

Yeah,

You got it now........

Thats one of the benefits of trading Forex compared to other trading. Don't be afraid to sell short. It is just as profitable.
Be pragmatic. Thats the key.......

What platform are you using?

I am using the one called fxsolutions GTS trading system. The web site for it is fxsol.com. They have automatic pattern recognizition(such as doji, inverted hammer, no commissions and tighest pips as they say). I am right now doing demo trading and learning from peter bain's course. I actually was going to buy a software by 4xmade easy($3200 cost) but later searched on the web, found lots of free stuffs and discard that thought of buying 4xmade easy. How long have you been trading? And according to your experience is it profitiable? I need some advise since i am a beginner.
Thanks again

Is FXsol easy to use, have they been reliable?

I'm no pro, but when it comes to the basics I'm sure I can help you out a little. I've been trading for about a year now, but everybody learns their own way so if you have any questions I'll try and answer them the best I can or someone else in this forum will.

Re: Confused about buy/sell in forex eur/usd

Hey guys, just browsing your conversation, thought i would bring some input.
I have used FX Solutions as well, when i first started (off and on for about 2 years now). I found it decent. Never cashed out though so don't know about that. Im still learning and getting more serious about it, i love it, and would like to do it full time. FXCM is my site now, i like the tech analysis you can get with no extra cost, and have found there articles very informative. Good luck, or good trading i should say.
