I agree. There are indicator being design & system with indicator combination for perdicting the future claiming to be the holy grail. They are selling this so called holy grail system with high % rate of accuracy to lure us to buy their system. We forget that its only perdicting the future.

xtsunami,
Nice Gann Square Nine chart from Advance Get.

The chart I attached is original work incorperating the platonic solids. It is hand drawn and not from advance get.

IMHO, I don't think there ANY indicators (or even any kind of TA for that matter) that can PREDICT the future. To be successful you can only PLAN for the future and how you will react as it unfolds. All our TA just gives us are guidelines on how we might want to react. At least, that's the way I look at it.

This is perhaps the difference in us as traders. You spend time toiling where price is, I look to be where it has not yet been. While you are reacting, I have already acted.

That is a great idea. While you are reacting, I have already acted.

I guess it takes a great confidance to be positive

Oh, I act (in the direction of greatest probability/least risk)...until the price goes against me...then I react (stops/reverses). I'm sure you do the same...that is....unless the price never goes against you?

garyh,

From some of the other posts that I have read from your pen, I would guess that you react in both directions, not act than react.

Hey! I do whatever makes the pips. Act or react, makes little difference to me which is "proper". However, all the reading I've done from successful people say "Buy High, Sell Higher...", which to me is reactive. I'm not telling anyone what to use or not use. If your system works for you, man, go for it! I think its great! All I'm saying, which is the origin of this thread, is that, IMHO, TA in general is not predictive and can never be. It can only give you, based on your experiance, an idea of when and what direction to trade.

But, hey, really, who am I? Just another trader trying to get to the point of making a living off of this crazy market.

Good Trading to you
