Forex? Just EUR/USD; just one chart and you can make a solid living for the rest of your life or death!

You can also go to an early grave @ the speed of light.

Forex can both thrill and kill.

A strong shark repellent is a requirement.

The only lesson that a broker will never learn? ... "the greatest thrill is not to kill!"

And, a very compelling comparison -- the essence of Forex is the carrytrade and it is just pure magic if done right. Think about all those lucky fellows who earned $23/day per lot in Interest holding LONG GBP/JPY. This does not even count the gain in pips.

Re: Forex Vs Stocks

Thanks all for the inputs. I have got here so much positive feedbacks about Forex compared to Stocks.

Some more Qs.

Is Forex being used as an one of the portfolios in all major mutual funds.

I have not seen any of my friends in general doing Forex, meaning it is not that much familiar like stocks. What is the reason behind that? I know the turnover of Forex is much much greater than all Stocks put together. But that might be because of major banks and instuitions involved. By # of traders wise, does forex has more traders compared to all stock traders thru out the world. I'm basically checking whether Forex got more popularity than stocks.

Thanks !
Shan

To me the key statement or rather issue in your comments above is learning curve. I trade futures on the CME, (just eminis) and I rarely spend more than 90 minutes a day on the computer and have a very simple system and make quite a good living at it, of course money management is vital to any trading success.

I have wanted to learn how to trade the Forex as I spend a good part of the year in Asia and it's a pain to day trade the CME at 9:30 at night, when I figure if trading FX I could do so during the day while there, but I have found there is just so much info about FX and there are so many scams and crap it's really hard to cut through the crap and really find things that work...and of course to actually learn the basics...

Just my two cents worth.

Re: Forex Vs Stocks

i haven't traded stocks, but from the little i know (and i could be wrong but).

with stocks, you have to pay a commission to trade. with forex you don't. you pay a spread which doesn't matter if you know what you are doing.
an example would be it would cost about $15.00 to $20.00 to place a limit order. I place alot of limit orders on various pairs quite often in forex since they're "free". if I did it in the stock market, i wouldn't have any money left to make a trade.

stocks close each day. forex is open round the clock.

with stocks i think there are different rules for selling vs. buying as far as account balance goes. with forex you can make money whether it goes up or down.

Hit the nail! Thats waht happend to me. If you dont attend courses and pay for the info, to find the REAL Forex is the trick. Spent like 2 weeks just learning if FOREX wasnt a scam,

I feel for ya brother. I can honestly say that I spent weeks looking into forex and there is so much info and so much of it is designed to simply sell another high priced piece of crap.

Some of the training that is out there is in fact just another sales pitch, but sadly when you ask them to provide numbers of how many of their former students are still training or how many are making a living at it, etc..they suddenly have memory loss...

I will be honest I have found a very good piece of software that I am using know that seems to actually be doing the trick.. but I am not going to be one of those scammers posting links etc all over the place. Plus I am not 100% sure it's a long term solution so for the time being I'll just keep my mouth shut about it.

But I do feel your pain on this issue.

Re: Forex Vs Stocks

I find stocks much easier to trade. Price action is much smoother, volume data, less overlap in ranging markets, a lot less false breakouts. They're just more predictable. However, I think there's a lot more money to be made in forex.
