I'm not quite sure what you referring to when you say "Forex trading companies " if you speaking of managed accounts you should give our host moneytec a go, I'm happy with there team. If your speaking in regarding to self trading try gain or fcm they seem to be the best and cheapest around..

I have used Money Garden, GCI and FXCM and would only recommend FXCM at fxcm.com. The other two were either slow at executing stops or the slippage was unacceptable.

How about OANDA??

I've been demo trading with FXCM and OANDA. I prefer OANDA's platform (and charts) and the 2 pip spread is Great! However, they have margin of 20:1 vs. 100:1 at FXCM. A couple of questions for you guys:

Does anyone have any comments on LIVE trading either of these platforms?

Does anyone have an opinion as to wether pip spread or margin is more important?

Thanks for any input!

Good trades to all.

Mike

I have had live trading experience with Money Garden and GCI and will never use them again after changing to FXCM. I have found that the order execution of FXCM is excellent. I do not have any experience with Oanda.

Pip spread is important in considering who you use as the smaller the spread the lower the cost to you. Also important is the speed of execution of orders and the value the order is executed. I have had cases where on live trading with the two previous Companies stops have been taken upto 20 pips from the desired value and market orders upto 10 to 15 pips for the quoted market value. (all against me) I find with FXCM the worst has been about 2 pips difference which is OK in a fast moving market.

I would also check O and A's spread during non-peak hours - I have seen on their demo system spreads on Euro of 10 pips but I don't know if this is the same on their live system. I also use FXCM. With them you always get the quoted prices and even in a fast market get filled more or less instantly although you might lose a couple of pips. Also with FXCM the speads are always the same even in off-peak or slow periods.

On OANDA the pip spread does change during the weekends/holidays or very low volume. On the demo my trades have executed quickly and I havent experienced "slippage".

Is this because demos are executed differently than live trades?

Thanks all....
