How volitile is current Forex market compared to past

Is the past week normal (8-24-95)?

I'm curious because my stradegies work for now but want to know what to expect in the future.

My stock market backround tells me what works today- will fail some day.

Thanks

Re: How volitile is current Forex market compared to past

Forex market, as any tradable market, expriences times of low volatility. Studies determine market phases as :
- low volatility, no trend
- low volatility, trend
- high volatility, no trend
- high voltility, trend

P.S. Phases are not equal in terms of periods.

I see it's low volatility, no trend phase. This is common in Aug.

I have done research on daily volatility of currencies from today to 10 years ago. I can do monthly up to 30 years ago (but why?)
Some currencies became more volatile, some less. GBP/JPY, Yen, Swiss became less volatile, cad and cable more.

IMHO if your system is based on sound principles and works during trend/range, then it should always (or most of the time) work (with modifications for sl and take profit due to volatility).
