New to forex

People say that they are new to forex and they really aren't.......When I say NEW I mean BRAND SPANKING NEW and that is just what I am to the Forex market. I need to learn everything (but I do know to buy low and sell high). Is there anyone who can give me direction to the right places or to the right people? Does anyone have experience training a total newbie? Thanks for any help yuo can give....

I've actually worked with a lot of true "newbies" (college finance students). Are you new to trading completely? Or do you have experience trading another market?

Re: New to forex

You need to find a system to trade. Depends what you believe on e.g. Ma's crossover, divergence, S&R and etc...
I personally like to trade off S&R. There are threads on this topic.

Cheers

Back up a step (or more). Before you can find a system to trade you need to figure out a lot of other things. A system is only as good as the trader who applies it. If the two don't jive, it's just not going to work out.

You need to do some personal assessments regarding trading time availability, risk tolerance, market knowledge, available capital, appropriateness of the market(s) and/or instrument(s) you are contemplating trading, the type of analytic methods you will employ (fundamental/technical/quantitiative) to make trade decisions and develop a trading system, etc. All of that comes together as part of a Trading Plan.

Re: New to forex

you sound like i did when i first started----didn't know anything.

some people are good in a classroom environment, some are better teaching themselves. I am best at teaching myself so i went and got tons of books on forex, candlesticks, trading for dummies, technical analysis for dummies, etc.

i read and learned and tried on the demo and gained and lost. So i went live and gained and lost, and lost, and lost.

Then I applied a method I read from toni turners "short term trading" and forgot about trying to be big time trader and now i'm gaining, gaining, gaining.

by the way, technical analysis is my method of operation. anyways, if you read books talking about stocks and it's technical analysis the same information will apply to the forex.
In stock books when they talk about sessions, this can mean the time frame you are trading. If you're trading the 1 hour time frame then 1 hour is a session. Etc.

At first I was trying to get 10-20 pips per day but was extremely unsuccessful at that. It is easier for me to use the longer term time frames and get 50-100+ pips per week and forget about the per day.

my 2 cents.
