In 1999 I have purchased a "course" from the turtle trader. By this time I had extensive trading experience in both futures and stocks. The course and the web-site of the turtletrader.com embellishes on the advantages of trend following and the turtles yet he fails to mention that these strategies apply primarily to hedge funds of very deep pocketed traders. I have researched and learned to adopt and change the risk and portfolio management of the turtle system by custom tailoring it to the Foreign Exchange markets and cut the time frame down a little bit.
I have never traded Forex before but the fact that I can control a portfolio of currency pairs for about $10,000 strongly appealed to me. I am sure it has a strong appeal among the newbie traders who find themselves a little undercapitalized yet disdain the idea of blowing out at the first time.
