Cool Re: What are the best 3 indicators?

My choice of three best indicators are:
1. moving average for trending market
2. oscillator for ranging market
3. bollinger bs for volatility estimations

Re: What are the best 3 indicators?

Thanks to all who replied.

I have read all responses several times I think all were valid. RS summed it up well... though I would have used an ultra light an F15 to make my point about getting there

As stated I am new am just trying to get a feel for things. So thanks again to all.

No one method is right or wrong finding what you like is what is important. If you fully underst how something like Demarker oscillator or disparity index or any of the other indicators work you are comfortable with it then that is a good indicator for you.

There really is no debate about fundamental v price patterns v technical they are just different styles to get you to the same place.

It's like travelling A to B debating what is best between a plane a car a motorbike or a pushbike.

They all get you there eventually but with different risks involved.

Well said. My thoughts as well.

Though some indicators are of course 'more populars' than others. Whether we can say that makes them better or not is open to discussion. But i think if an indicator is used a lot it there's likely a reason why so it's always to a trader's advantage to check these out first foremost then make their own decisions as to what works best perhaps all of them or perhaps only one or maybe even none. As for which are the most popular i'd have to say based on my newbie observations they're the MACD stochastics fibonacci levels moving averages RSI.

Re: What are the best 3 indicators?

Hmmm well in my opinion the most important factors are:
1. Price
2. Time
3. Angle Theory (WD Gann has great insights into this)
Honorable Mention: Wave theory such as Elliot Wave

Classic indicators such as MACD or Slow Stoch. in my opinion are also good but they can also give alot of false signals. I still use them but they are secondary to Price & Time which is the most important factors in the market. The best plan of attack is to use all these combined have a good understing of how all these things work in conjunction to each other. Try to trade towards daily & weekly trend be patient wait for great setups such as breakouts tops & bottoms on higher charts scale down to like a 4 hour chart for a good set up.

Dmi...

Cajun

My choice of indicators is:

- DMI ADX curve interaction (Welles Wilder)
- Momentum
- Personal Judgement (can't beat that)

Been trading for a long time but it was only very recently I understood (heard about it before) how the DMI is used works. Suffice to say that this was the first time in technical analysis a concenpt worked for me.

Recommend you look at it - it has worked for me immensely well since I started using it.

PM me if you need directions

Care..

Hi Smiley
I would like to know why you chose the DMI. I have used it before but it also seems to give false signals at times.
