Do you have any impression of what proportion of crossovers you end up trading (small-ish I realise)?

of what the "average time-lag" is between the crossover the trade?

Thanks for updating with January's positions.

Hi Tim

The trade did not happen...well at least not according to Metatrader. Its possible that it was triggered on other platforms...no matter which platform I end up using I will probably continue to use Metatrader as an indicator.

Yes you are right a small proportion of the trades are actually taken. Rough guess would be 20%. I suppose a better reply is that the number of trades is right for me in that not too many not too little

Again a rough estimate of time lag would be 12 hours. But I have know it to happen quicker slower. Usually it is clear to see when the PSAR crossover will occur be prepared for it in the next 4 hour period.

Thanks

Thanks ar1...I do actually plan to at some stage look into this. At present I have to be able to stick to my rules...once I get control of myself fully I can then try other variations

I totally agree with the 'set & forget' method of tp & sl I've always said my best trades happened when I wasn't around to meddle with them.

I just wanted to point out that my change wma to ema was only because Netdania was going through an unreliable patch (like today for instance when it went down twice for some time) & my platform CMC doesn't have wma. There's not that much difference between the two indicators on a normal day it's only when there's been some big whipsaws as seen around news time that you may see a difference of a few pips.

I hope this helps you only have to look back a few weeks to see how much/little difference using wma or ema makes.

In future I'll look to see which way the 4 hour has crossed before entering on the 30 mins. It's all wheels within wheels there must be some connection between the two. Just a quick thought...if the 4 hour & the 30 mins is crossing at the same time...hmmm.

I'll do some backtesting over the weekend to compare notes.

Hi Bunnygirl

WOW...I have a reply BG on my thread

Actually when I started looking at this system I came across yours that is what made me perservere investigate further...so thanks for that.

Thanks for your comments suggestions...I will take a look. Please let us all know how you get along with the backtesting.

I agree it is wheels within wheels...however in all hty I look at nothing else except 4 hour charts...the thing is there is so much information as there is so I like to simply things otherwise I feel overwhelmed.

Thanks again

It didn't happen on mine either. I was wondering about this especially since I use ProRealTime which is set to Central European Time so my four-hour bars are one hour out of step with yours?! Interesting ...

Thanks for your other answers.

Very nice to see a special guest appearance by BG herself as you say.

Thanks Sr2

HI I'm a newbie too. Have been educting myself for about 6 months now. Have cheecked out various trading signals (pro signal netpicks etc) which are ok if you have the time. I became a member here last night was very interested in your system. I tested it on Intellichart with varoius historical data it seems to work brilliantly! I am going to use the signals to place fixed odds bets on Bet On The Markets so not to risk my (already minute capital).

Thanks alot I will keep you posted with results.

Best of luck to you stringy12...let us all know how you get along on BOM. I was thinking of trying it out on BOM but decided on forward testing on metatrader first.

U may want to look into ATR for s/l t/p. This is to adjust according to per p volatility. I think in the long run this will also make yr system more adaptive to market.
