What's with all the AdLinks?

Way too many AdLinks

I know this is commercial site but come on, a few is fine but it's getting a bit much now, and most of the links aren't relevant anyway.

I draw the line at my avatar being hijacked as an advertising link!!

The site has to make money some way I guess. Looks like MoneyTec may be down on the number of sponsors buying banner space as I notice it now only displays GFT Forex and MoneyTec's own StrategyBuilderFX on this site now.

But IMHO from a useability point of view, it appears when browsing this site now, there is a noticeable jerkiness in the browser when scrolling around and which can be a bit of a pain. (I'm using FireFox 1.5)

There is a very simple method to disable the Adlinks and speed up page loading.

Anybody who wants to know how just PM me.

I'm not sure you can send/read PM's can you, isn't there some rule about x number of posts.....

Oh, I didn't know that.

I see somebody already posted a solution using blocking software.

My fix is simpler, just put the line:


127.0.0.1 kona.kontera.com


in your 'hosts' file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts or wherever this file is located).

Ok, I'll give it a go, do I have to change the file to a .txt file and then add that line? It's got no file extension at the moment, well not one I can see anyway.

No, there is no need to do so, first of all, make a back up copy infact something went wrong.

Then just double click on the hosts file and then open in notepad and add the line if you are windows user, otherwise, just open it on a simple editor program will do.

Once you added the line and saved it, reboot your computer and see if it works.

If you add a .txt extention you will need to remove it after editing.

You can run windows notepad and edit the file directly even if it has no extension.
