API for trading platform - automatic trading

Can anyone recommend a broker whose trading platform has API (application program interface) that I can write software to place trades and get quotes directly without me sitting in front of the computer? (Automatic trading)

Thank you.

API

I have been looking at possibilities of automating trading for a while now, and the only trading platforms I've come across that have decent API interfaces are the ones from Metaquotes.

Aside from the ability to script "expert advisors", Metatrader also has a C++ API which can be called from an external application. The original Metaquotes platform could be controlled via Windows messaging.

Another option is to look at Java-based trading platforms that communicate with the server via XML.

Can you provide more information about Metaquotes?

Who can I contact to get Metaquotes?

Which broker offers Metaquotes?

How do I do ++ interface?

Metaquotes

Metatrader can be downloaded at www.metaquotes.net together with their API.

On their home page is also a list of some brokers that currently make use of the Metatrader platform.

Others using Metaquotes platforms include FXFirst (old application) and InterbankFX (Metatrader).

The API can be called from within programming environments such as C++, VB and Java - but if you don't want to get your hands too dirty then I suggest looking at the scripting environment provided with Metatrader. This allows you to automate your trading to a fairly high degree.

Smile Re: API for trading platform - automatic trading

I have access to a whole collection of robots developed by a full time team of programmers with 12-14 years experience in the automation field.

The feed is unfiltered institutional feed and the software resides on the company server with API connected to IFX.

This allows it to run 24/7 with you being able to access anywhere in the world from any PC. No need to have your machine on for the robot to work for you around the clock.

The target is 50 PPT on average.

IFX granted these people institutional level data feed for good reason. So, you won't get the slippage here as you do with filtered feed.
