Re: Do you find yourself posting more and more when you are loosing?
While I do not agree with your overall thesis, it does stand to reason that a trader who is making money would tend not to make posts of the "searching for that miracle indicator" type. It also seems logical that a trader that is making money might not post/read a forum if he believed that a forums main purpose was to help those looking for "clues to success." In other words, if a trader only sees forums as a place for those looking to become successful, why would he read/post while things were indeed going his way?
The truth is that there are many things that a successful and not so successful trader can learn in a forum. Only one good piece of information, advice can mean thousands to the bottom line. While a trader may have a "system or method" that can stand the test of time, that does not mean that the learning process ends. Believe it or not, some people do want to help others find their way to success. Like the old adage says, teach something and you learn it twice.
Clearly there are many losing traders on the various boards. We all, as humans, like to see that we are not alone in our struggles. Nobody wants to be the only one that "hasn't figured it out". If a new or poor trader could surround himself only with winning traders (notice I did not say old, as by definition, old traders are winning traders), that would be ideal. Yet, even a new trader can teach another new trader something. Some people have to touch a hot stove to learn not to do it; others just have to be told.
Not to mention that trading can be a lonely pursuit. It can be nice just to "be with" other in said pursuit. Even if most of them are searching for the wrong things: There's a lot less to trading than most people think.
