Support resistance are probably the best external tools. it has been said that the mind is the best internal tool. I would like to add one more thing. The will to deny the expression of the ego will enable you to have a clear mind to make good judgements. If one can sacrifice the ego fear greed will be much easier to deal with.

I believe you Cat. Why do you think these $300 mini accounts are available? The brokers know 90% of traders lose their money. with such a small account you have to have tight stops ( if you have any at all ) then they can go hunting for your stop loss when they need to balance the books. fx trading gets like a drug ( think the word that dare not speak it's name - ok it starts with a G ). capital is your fix.You start thinking that next time you'll crack it so on.

All these tips theoretical advices are helpful to certain degree. A good trader needs to have right mind set apply proper money management so on of course.

But above all else is the EDGE. If you do not have it NOTHING will help.

That is why I think this thread should be titled as "One of the keys ....".
