There are doubts here ! At such times, most brokers will not respect your SL. Sl will be nearest price after spike. It could be 100 pips away predefined SL.

It could be. But my actions also depends on what news is coming and what my posiotions are showing at the moment, profit or loss. I can decrease position size to reduce risks, or close some of them, or hedge, or hold open, if it worth the risk. I carefully prepare my trade for each important news release and I do have an accurate trading plan before it. So, it depends, you know..
