When one is seeking a mentor, one should not assume they are in control. Why has a mentor not come forward? Do ya think it may because you have not shown a humble enough attutude, GabeMT.

A real mentor is cautious with his time , knowledge, and skill, because in the wrong hands it can be dangerous. A mentor will help you ask the right questions when you are seeking only technique. They will help you build a foundation for success, not give you the easy answers. They will expect humility and that you have a work ethic. They will not appreciate your demands. You will know a successful trader by what he says and does, not by him producing statements or verifying anything.

You certainly would not seek a mentor on the pages of this forum. Most have little trading experience or success.

Take the words of currencia's posts to heart. Most experienced traders don't hang around these parts because of the general climate. The fact that an experienced and successful trader answered a query on this thread and posted a chart should be appreciated with humility not with your other implications.

Money and humility

Maybe I should clarify the money issue.
The reason that I offered to pay a mentor is precisely because I think that a successfull mentor has to be rewarded and conmpensated for their time while not trading but mentoring.
I appologize if the offer to pay sounded/looked condescending. This was not my intention. The motive was a practical one and out of respect to a mentor's time.
In the business world I have seen many cases where a novice businessman invited himself for lunch or dinner with a successful businessman inorder to pick the latter's brain.
In my oppinion it was the novice who should have paid for the lunch or the dinner as a token tuition fee, but this rarely happened because the novice = less affluent person thought that it was no big deal if the more affluent person paid the bill.
I guess you got my point.
so getting back to the subject, where would you look for a mentor if one will not frequant this forum?

I'm very much in sync with xtsunami

True mentors are not advertising or looking to find you. It is your responsibility to find him (or her) and approach with a proper attitude. If they will find you suitable, they'll tell you their terms.

Re: your question

Just keep your eyes and ears open all the time. Forums are good place to start with. Also think about what such a trader would be engaged into and look into such places. Most important - don't project your assumptions (about how he/she should look, act, talk or trade). If you suspect somebody may be qualified, talk to them to find out more. Ultimately it comes down to the proper attitude, dedication, best judgement and trust.

The good friend of mine was looking for a martial arts master. Sure we have choice of commercialized martial art schools, however it is not easy to find somebody truly authentic. Even after he has traveled to the Asia, he only faced the choice of well advertised commercial teachers. He literally had travel from village to village and look for authentic martial art master, who turned to be an ordinary guy who simply knew how to fight.

Finding a trading mentor is just so much easier. Not because anybody can trade, but mainly because you don’t have to travel thousands miles and live in foreign country for years.

Mentor...Teaching Yourself Perpetualy.

The Best Mentor ultimately is Oneself...in the pursuit of Research/Analysis into FX Trading Knowldege... a Mentor sees a student as an initiator...an Individual that makes things happen of their own accord...the How<>Why Mentality. Continualy defining and refining their Strategy for the FX Market for it is an everchanging Dynamic that demands resiliency and flexibility....View your FX Education as a Journey...and along that path see if this is the right course of action for yourself...if it is the Right Doors will Open... for committment and dedication toward a single purpose is what makes things happen...and not a half hearted measure.

The Holy Grail of Trading is Time...and how You Apply your Mind to aquire the neccesary Knowledge to Trade Time/Price.

When the Student is Ready...the Teacher Appears...You Hold the Key.

Excellent! Monkey deserves banana! Wish I was able to come up with such an accurate price prediction - well done! I need a mentor like you to show me the road - how about it?
