I'm all of the above....my prefered way of trading is off 3 hr (swing) and 1 day or longer (position) in the absence of the proper set ups with those I go to day (1hr) and momentum (10min) always keeping in mind the fractals I am working with......

I'm probably more of a swing trader, although I enter into other trades as well. I'm not sure if I fit into one specific category.

Well, a good trader imho tries to be all the types that you mentioned in your poll at any given time depending on how he has assessed the markets and their associated risks/their trends etc for the foreseeable future. I turned professional nearly 8 years ago and have been trading CFDs only during this time - I've recently started the following blog:

and hope that I will turn this site to a major trading blog - if anyone would like to read the daily notes which I make on this site and add their comments on it, it would be great.

Are all of the trading styles radically different? Isn't it still all about just buying low and selling high?

Most of our traders, and certainly myself and family, engage in several strategies. From "opening only's" on the NYSE to MOC's imbalance trading. We do "scalp" but don't "just scalp" - we do "swing trade" and we do pairs, mergers, black box, gray box, short term, longer term, and even portfolio management.

Our traders have access to using a couple of $million, so they can engage in a lot of successful techniques, and each tries to adapt their trading styles to their personalities, but no limit themselves.
