Red face Re: ( POLL ) What type of trader are you

Scalper/Daytrader I don't have enough time or cannot stay awake long enough nor have experience or account large enough for longer time frame.

Also read that as not profitable/ not profitable enough to give up day job.
Becoming all consuming hobby only at the moment.

Re: ( POLL ) What type of trader are you

by the poll i'm a swing trader. Though from the books I read a swing trader buys on support and sells on resistance over and over. Well whatever.

What I do is:

Find the trend that starts out at the beginning of the week. As long as it is trending in that direction i keep it open and plan to close it on Friday.
IF my system shows signs of the trend ending, i'll close it, wait for my system to show the reversal and enter the trade to close it out on friday.

I am beginning to teach myself to trade on the shorter time frames so if the market is ranging, i won't have to wait for a trend. (remember, use the demo account dummy) (that was a note to myself so I won't experiment on the real account)

So i'm a swing trader and looking to add daytrading under my belt as well.

So if you had sold USD then and buy DEM, you will earn 75% profit, equavalent to 2.56% annually without compounding. In JPY you got 140% profit, which comes to 4.66% annually.

Very good conservative investment - bet against the USD.
Let's not forget inflation before we get too excited. Since 1973 The U.S. Dollar has lost 90% of it's value counting for American inflation. So if you would of held your money in EUR you still would have lost about 50% of your money after counting for inflation.

Isn't inflation evil?

I consider myself a Scalper , and I can't see me going any longer than a day (Day Trader) at this early stage of my trading.

Only trading experience can tell you that. I wanted to be a day trader but could not develop a profitable strategy for day trading, so I had to move out to swing trading (weekly rather than daily). For my simple mind, profit was easier to see on a weekly basis, then the trouble became working on patience to execute the strategy. Don't be dismayed if one period doesn't work for you. Keep testing and reading.

Re: ( POLL ) What type of trader are you

I guess I know really well what kind of trader I am. I'm the absolute speculant. I just don't have the patience to wait and wait and wait. I want to see insantly results. But of course I know how important it is to trade in the long run and to sit tight
But my trading method is just to watch the tape, in markets I don't know how to speed this one up.

So in normal terms I am a daytrader. Because scalper doesn't hit it. Making a profit of 2 - 4 pips and having a spread of 2 is in my opinion not healthy.

Re: ( POLL ) What type of trader are you

I trade for a few seconds and some times for a few minutes; I watch to see if I am right or wrong. If I am right, I stay with the trade. If the trade goes against me, I know how many pips I will lose before I get out. I start out small to test the trade. So, I guess, I am a scalper right now.
