Hello,
Mysteriously, last week my
MT4 also started having problems with
'no connection'. I tried removing the program and re-installing it several
times. What happens is, when you first re-install everything works fine
connection-wise, you can open up a
demo account, load indicators, profiles
, etc. But when you close the MT4 application and reopen it, the 'no connection' problem reappears.
After much trial and error over the weekend, I discovered a workaround,
(annoying as it is, but it will get around the 'no connection' problem):
Here's the workaround:
Open up MT4 and when you get the 'no connection' message, click on
the 'no connection' to get a Login dialog window. In the Login Dialogue Window, you will probably see the Moneytec Demo Server listed. Blank out
the 'Moneytec Demo Server' and type in the following IP Address and Port
exactly like this: 66.235.184.157:443
Click OK and the Login Dialog Window will dissappear. Note: At this point
you *will still* have the 'no connection' problem. But now if you close MT4
and reopen it, you should connect fine. The 'annoying' part of this workaround
is that this is not a permanent fix. You will probably have to repeat this
each time that you get the 'no connection' problem.
I suspect that the cause of the mysteriously appearing no connection problem
has to do with build 194 and the way it stores the the server information
in the CONFIG folder. I suspect that this build may cause these files to be
unreadable, thus causing the no connection error.
Try the workaround and see if it works for you.
