Re: Pivot Calculation

Hi

I assume you are trading the European/U.S session.
By nature I am lazy, so I use betomarkets.com data
to calculate my Pivot Point's.

Yesterday HLC:
http://mercury4.tradeodds.com//e/c_white/o_cgi/q_typeofchart/l_table/a_tkr/l_frxEURUSD/a_market/l_forex/a_w/l_CR/a_l/l_GB_.htm

Data on this page gives me very nice pivot levels
daily. This is just my 2 cent worth

pivot points

Just another 2 cents. I think Pivot points are determined by high, low, and close for a period. Weather that be a bar, candle, etc. Therefore the rationale would be to trade or observe the pivot for the same period or TF. Thus your question may be in what TF am I willing to trade and then use the pivot within that TF.
You can get pivot calculator for free at many sites. Try Google search for pivot calculator or try this one---www.stelaronline.com/resource/pivot.htm.

Pivot Cal.

Daniel has an excellent point and the moneytec calculator from aboutforex.com give a strategy for trading, others auto compute a level 3 support and resistance which is also good for extended price targets in certain conditions.

Re: PP

Hi

Use HLC from BOM site. They work just perfect through
entire trading day European/U.S. In case of a huge move
you may re-calculate Pivots using HLC 24 h back.

But 99% of the days the BOM site HLC works like a charm.

Thanks,

Daniel

Pivot Points

http://www.fabrefactum.com/ is low cost and very accurate. To find the main pivot of the day add the previous session high low and close together and divide by three.

When using fabrefactum use 24hrs setting. It works.
