Question Systematic Google searches on Forex ?

OK,

I've gotten to the point where I have to find (or build myself) a good system that works for me. I've traded and played around with a few dozen or so trading systems (some of them from this site) with varying degrees of success and failures. My trading skills have many strengths and weaknesses which I won't go into on this thread. I also read lots of books and have researched the web on building forex trading systems.

I will evntually have the ability to design my own systems which will make me consistent profits. Great !

However, I would like to expand my horizons and thoroughly search the internet for Forex sites that have systems that I could check out and try. I would like to explore all (or most) of the possibilities for different system design.

I have no desire to use signal services or advisory services or trade recommnedations from 'gurus'. A decent mentor such as Dr. Forex or Rob Booker is not out of the question for me, though. Neither do I mind paying for a good system or EA or Indicator - as long as it's proven to be effective.

The problem is that, as you all know, if you type a google search query for : "forex systems" - you get 20 million or so results. I have tried using booleans and other search options on "advanced search" in google. These have narrowed my search down to 19,000.

What I did was use the "and not" operator to exclude all the signal service website buzz words like "-managed -account -forecast -advisory -service -signal"

I speak English so I excluded results not in english , because I wouldn't understand them anyways.

There were a lot of results that were retail advertisement sites for brokers and platforms so I did an "and not" to those buzz words such as "-demo -spread -platform -commission -live"

These same "buzz" words are repeatedly used on a lot of forex sites. Since, all I'm interested in at this point is forex systems I think that I have narrowed my search down quite a bit. However, this leaves me with an uneasy feeling that I may have eliminated some of the best info. out there.

Anybody have any ideas or would like to share their systematic internet searching techniques for good FX sites is appreciated.

Also, feel free to comment on systematic searching the internet for specific forex info. without literally sifting through all the garbage websites and B.S. -one site at a time muliplied by
20 million?

Any input welcome

Re: Systematic Google searches on Forex ?

Hi Outofdebt,
do you like it quite simple and efficient? Why don't you check out "catFx50"
on:
http://www.forex-tsd.com/catfx50/523-catfx50.html
This Thread has been active for one year now. "Nina", the administrator ist testing this system on TF15 since a few days. This might even be more successful.
Anyway, if you already know Rob Booker and has read his ebook "Strategy 10" you are aware that 10 pips a day would make about $ 136,000 if you started with $ 10,000 after one year.

Re: Systematic Google searches on Forex ?

Outofdebt, I agree that googling produces a great many repetitions plus the majority of listings are commercial.

What you need to be doing is studying Price Movement particularly if you are going to trade with a discretionary method/system. Mechanical systems may not need Price Movement analysis but it doesn't hurt knowing about it.

Besides dedicated charting/trading programs others such as MetaStock and TradeStation have sites and forums where trading systems and indicator code is published, see this site for MS examples and some TS code:
http://trader.online.pl/MSZ/!-MSZ-index-en.html

AmiBroker is another program which allows user code and perhaps the largest collection of code for MetaTrader/StrategyBuilder is here:
http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/grou...nd_Indicators/

Forex Price Movement is similar to futures and stocks and while there are differences between them all, they're generally not so different that your searches should be limited to forex only info.

Re: Systematic Google searches on Forex ?

this isn't an answer you're desiring but.....

i noticed at the strategybuilderfx forum people are looking for systems and trying this one and trying that one. from reading it seems like everyone one is just trying one system after the other.

I think to myself "do any of these people even know how to trade?".

I would suggest learn how to trade using whatever tools you want. get good at that. once you achieve that, you'll be able to program a system for yourself. Plus, you'll know how it works cuz you wrote it, because you traded it manually....price action is a good indicator.

just my 2 cents is all.
