How to open a .prn file .. can i open it in strategy builder

i have downloaded some historic data one of the internetsites...

These are individual files of each currency p.. GBPCHFCADEUR some other...

Now i am wondering how to open these files... i want to use this data for back testing my strategy... i am using strategy builder 3.6..

can anybody suggest some platform/way to use these files of historic data...

a .prn file is a printer file. if u click on this file..it'll print it through your default printer. that means this data is just typed in there as mayb text. if u want u can view it just by printing it to a file. this option is already present when u print. as far as i know this data cannot be imported to MT4 or Mt3 for backtesting.

thanks man... noluck again.. i have got to do some trail error with these files learned that these can be opened in excel.


Now i can open these files in excel but not in strategy builder.... Moreover SB allows to save the chart data in .csv form ( this also can be opened in excel as you might know) but it wont allow the same file to upload into SB...

is there any way to upload the data onto SB ???/

You will find the .prn files are actually ascii files. Some charting packages (Dynamic Trader comes to mind ) use this format.
A free charting package that could open this file is http://www.spacejock.com/FreechartsSE.html
You may have to rename your .prn files as .txt to get it to work.
