Question Why did GBP fall so rapidly before London attacks?

That is a question that needs thorough probing.

Was it just a coincidence? I tend to believe, not.

Re: Why did GBP fall so rapidly before London attacks?

Because that is the prevailing trend as the US has been raising interest rates since January. Inclusively, it is widely believed that the UK is at the opposite end of the interest rate cycle and is due for cuts.

Look back at 2001 and see where interest rates were then and coorelate them to the fall of the dollar.

We are simply at a turn of the interest rate cycle on both sides of the pond.

I have heard that this is to be expected every 5 years or so.

A forex trend is more powerfull than a terrorist.

They said the same thing after 9/11, someone shorted airline and insurance stocks, but I don't believe anything came of the investigation. London was the work of amateurs, the last attack was so ineptly carried out that the bombs didn't even go off (thankfully!) One suspect shot dead, another few arrested, and an abundance of evidence left at the scenes....I doubt the 'terrorists' could manage to short cable before their bungled attack, going by their performance they probably would have gone long!
