I read those posts at elitetrader. They did not convince me that a retail trade box will eat a stoploss order on a gapper that they could not and did not participate in, such as weekends or when no trades occured inside the gapper at any time. This would simply be financial suicide with no chances of offset to cover the cost, much less profit from offering it.
There are many threads to indicate exactly such notion. It makes no sense to me. I will beleive it, over the examples posted of "not so" when someone can actually show me that the retail box gave the fill and ate the crow when there was actually no tradable or traded price.
Maybe da monkey is just getting old and needs to go out to pasture; errr, 'em, back into the trees.
