Re: Vote for the best platform

I vote for GFT because I think they have and are improving their platform tremendously. Although I still use the Metatrader also, I like the fact that GFT can be web based so you can access from anywhere and also you can use your cell phone to execute trades. This being said I do like how easy it is to learn the Metatrader...so I am torn on that part. Still, my vote has to be for GFT. (I also hear that FXCM is easy to use though)

Re: Vote for the best platform

GFT looks good but has some TERRIBLE aspects
- it takes forever to load up (including their web based platform). This can be catastrophic during emergencies for example when you or they have had a crash or want to reboot. YOU CANNOT TRADE UNTIL ALL OF THE CHARTS HAVE LOADED UP!
- they handle stops manually to their benefit via the dealers
- opening stops can be slipped through closing limit orders
- everybody is slipped to the same level not matter what your stops were set at
- market orders have NO cancel facility and you are filled that the most disadvantageous prices (most advantageous to them). They hold market orders opening until the price is way against you. You are left helpless waiting for your order to get through (you are lucky if you get a requote!)
- they have no price cache
- EUR/USD spread is 50% more than most other brokers
- their tick charts seize you PC when adding prices in a news storm or even when you just scroll (check for yourself using Task Manager)
- if you get pi55ed off with GFT who can you switch to without learning a whole new platform? This is one of the main advantages of custom platforms to the dealers.
- they have an API but it is not a good solution for automated trading

My suggestion to newbies:- choose the platform before you choose a broker. You should be able to switch between brokers easily if one cheeses you off and not have to use valuable time adjusting to a new platform. Getting trapped into a position where you are afraid of the hassle of learning a new platform (and thus stick to your current crooks) is a receipe for loss.

Thankfully a lot of brokers are using the excellent MT4 platform so that concern is no problem.
