what causes tics?

hi,
i'm just curious as to what causes tics.
Like on the 1 minute chart or even 5-30 sec when the price goes up then down then up then down even though it may be moving in the longer term trend direction.....

Is a tic each time someone buys/sells or what?

Tics are caused by the continous buying/selling in teh forex market.
