Re: Who is Rob Booker?

InitalsBB,

To answer your questions and your criticism:

1. I don't talk about psychological mumbo-jumbo. You can diss the mental side of the training that I do. I can take that -- maybe I don't communicate in a way that appeals to you. But the mental side of trading is far more important than the technical side. That's my unalterable opinion after having worked with hundreds of traders from all walks of life.

2. Yes, there are former students who are successful. I hope that they take a moment to post in the forum.

3. Yes, all the strategies that I teach are backtested, not only by me but also by the students. Some can be programmed into Tradestation and they have been tested with at least 4 years of data. Other systems have been tested manually back as far as 13 years. They have rising equity curves that do not have big drawdown periods (probably what you mean by smooth). The percentage return and p/l ratios vary between the systems. The short term new york session system I test generally has a 65%-75% win percentage and average losers about the same size as the winners. The longer term system I teach has the same winning percentage but winners that are bigger than the losers.

Individuals trade these systems, though, and their results vary. Some students don't follow the rules I teach, but rather they adjust the rules, test them, and improve them. Some alter the rules and lose because they haven't tested the changes. Some stick to the rules and do well. Results vary because real people are trading the systems.

I am happy to talk to you about all of this. My number is 304 281 8998.

Re: Who is Rob Booker?

Well, our experiences are different.
I've been trading (profitably) myself, i've talked to other traders, read books and i've come to conclusion that trading is first and foremost game about statistical probability. Sure, psychology plays part in it, but unless you have statistically proven and sound method, you will not make it-no matter how hard you try "to be yourself" or "to reach to your deeper self" (as someone else put it). For me the method is sine qua non-without it the rest of the puzzle will not come together. I read very often on various forums that you can make everything work-only if you can get your mental side right. This is one of the dangerous oversimplifications that such attitude (that mental side is more important) can lead to.
With my post i was just implying that maybe you should explain the type of strategies that you teach and their performance- for those (like me) that want to know more than psychological advices. If Forex is business (and it is) facts and figures are important.

Re: Who is Rob Booker?

I just came across something from Rob Booker. He wants 10 pips a day with a 30 pip stop. He trades breakouts and after 10 pips he is finished for the day. So if you loose twice in a row you have to win 6 days in a row to break-even.

Re: Who is Rob Booker?

I traded 3 years before joining Rob's courses. My account balance whipped sawed all of the time. But now after finishing his course I feel more confident and disciplened profitable and comfortable to trade.

It all depends to your winnig %. If you can win 70%-80% you can grow your equity. It is possible

I agree if you can trade like a machine of automize this than it's with the percentage you mentioned possible. But imagine you have bad luck you loose 2 times. How big is the pressure then ? You can't afford a third time because then you have to trade 9 winners in a row to break-even. I don't think many people can do this. But you're right theoreticly it's possible.

I agree with you. There is the very moment that discipline and following your system religiously can help.
