How about "None" just to round up the choices? With out this choice, you're essentially forcing participants to pick an indicator.

It's a pity it won't let you vote for two or more indicators as I use EMAs, MACD, DMI and Parabolic SAR. They are all important and all confirm each other if you know what I mean. I especially like use of the DMI so that got my vote this time around. Cheers.

Exclamation You need at least two indicators

Some are used in trending market (up or down), others in flat market (trading in range). So it is a good idea to change the format of the poll somehow (checks instead of radio buttons or separate poll on each indicator). And you didn't mention one of my favourites - stochastics.

I use MA in trending markets, Slow Stochastic in ranges (very short). I look on MACD for early trend reverse signals.
Bollinger bands are useful to take unexpected profit.

I am a positional trader and use trend caused by fundamental reasons. So, TA is very important but secondary for me.

indicators?

My favorite one is the RSI, but of course in combination.

I'm using EMA's and MACD so maybe you really should have choosen check boxes instead of radio buttons, as someone stated before. EMA's are more important though.

I'm actually using stochastics in tradingmodels (as you haven't included in the poll), MACD, RSI and DMI in a recent thesis.. Those indicators are tested against the four biggest currency pairs (in volume) + EUR/JPY... without stoploss and then with two different kind of moneymanagement strategies.

Some of the results follow below:

RSI (25/75) - percent trailing strategy - average annual return for the 5 pairs: 4,89%

MACD (48/104/36) - percent trailing strategy - average annual return for the 5 pairs: 5,48%
Annual average maximal drawdown: $ 266,8 ($100 000 initial capital)
Average % profitable trades for the 5 pairs: 34.84%
Sharp:

MACD (144/312/108) - percent trailing strategy - average annual return for the 5 pairs: 8,95%
Best pair: EUR/USD:19,83%
Worst pair: USD/JPY: 0.75%

DMI (252) - percent trailing strategy - average annual return for the 5 pairs: 11,58%
Average % profitable trades for the 5 pairs: 34,59%

Stochastics (25/75) - percent trailing strategy - average annual return for the 5 pairs: 8,19%
Average % profitable trades for the 5 pairs: 36,07%

NOTE: Realistic trading costs are included in the models.. been using 5-min EBS spot data for 3 months..

Mishak, I've used 5 min scale, between 10 Sept-10 Dec 2003.
Used 3 strategies.

One: No strategy Just buy and sell when the indicators say so.
Two: Stop-loss + percent risk trailing.
Three: Percent risk trailing.

Works like the attached pic..

I've been trying MACD and a Schaff Trend to compliment each other. Can't say yet, but I like the way they interact! Anyone already done this experiment?
