Trend & Momentum

I agree that U must use the right tool for each ocassion, just as a mechanic would use many not just a screwdriver. So that momentum currencies like the Yen are measured great with Bands, Stoch and ADX just because most of the time is ranging on the other hand, for the EUR I use MACD and SMA, Fibs and CCI and Keltner bands have improve greatly my trade after I moved to this methodology of TA.

Nevertheless my problem is with time on Charts, Still haven't figured out best use of time for verification, I use for EUR trend so I TA the Daily and 4Hr for Yen use 15 Min with 1 Hr to verify.
What do you guys think ??

Good Luck everybody

The most important thing about the tools you use is that they should be accurate.

I Know that sounds funny, but by accurate I mean they should tell the "IS'' not the "SHOULD BE". If prices are rising, you want indicators/tools that are in tune to that reality. Not tools looking to go counter to the truth. There is no such thing as overbought or oversold. How can there be? "The market's primary purpose is to find that exact point where there is an equal disagreement on value and an agreement on price", accroding to Bill Williams.

Put another way, for every buyer there is a seller, so you can't have more buyers than sellers. Only more enthusiastic buyers than sellers, or vice versa. And the more enthusiastic group will push price in one way or another, but in the end there is always somebody on the other side. So when it comes to actual "market particpants", there can't be a bullish consensus: it only means not all the bears were polled. Otherwise prices would already be going up until that point of equal disagreement on value and agreement on price is reached.

Anybody that says the market is overbought, is talking in code. What they really mean is that prices have gone higher than they(the individual) think they should have gone. But the market is always right. It doesn't overreact. It does go one way and then pull back, but at any one time the market is where it is supposed to be.

So tools that listen to what the market is saying are the only tools one should be looking at. And the market speaks in price and volume.

Mishak

Mishak,

You said in a post on the first page you make most of your trades on fundamentals. I personaly dont have any luck trying to trade that way. From your experience why did the US $ gain value today with such a bad employment # .

I use MA in trending markets, Slow Stochastic in ranges (very short). I look on MACD for early trend reverse signals.
Bollinger bands are useful to take unexpected profit.

I am a positional trader and use trend caused by fundamental reasons. So, TA is very important but secondary for me.
Mishak,
How do you trade the news (fundamentals)? I don't use any indicators - they are overrated.

Re: ( POLL ) Which indicators?

what about price?, is that not the indicator which all other indicators are derived from,

in my humble opinion having an array of indicators which are all derived from the price will all respectively confirm/negate each other,

the best to all
