HNN Hi HNN What I do is put a stop loss in just before the next scheduled announcement to protect profits or keep loss small. Glad to hear I am not the only trader who thinks fundamentals can be traded very short term. Thanks for your response. All the best, JIMMY

Jimmy, I agree, SL and a proper money management technique is a must along with a bit of technical analysis for the entry point. I feel Fundamentals and a bit of technical anlysis is the key to this approach. And then comes the discipline to follow them. I think fundamentals move the markets and tech analysis ensures that the market will move and a proper money mangement ensures that you remain profitable and get out at the right time if the entry is bad. Have Great trades. HNN

Guys, very good observations Guys, very good observations. I must agree with some of view, sometimes fundamental and technical contradict each other. That is why trades must be placed cautiously when reports are due out. I wanted to point out that I am using a combination of technicals that seem to always be right when market trends. I have been testing for a little while. Can some of you see how they work and offer some feedback. This combination seem to work well when used with solid fundamentals. I use MACD 12,26,9 EMA 12,26,9 RSI 14 and Slow Stocahstic 12,26,9. You can easily see overbought and oversold levels and pinpoint reversals. Tell me what you guys think.

Fundamental news Jimmy-Trader I feel fundamentals are a much neglected subject in forex trading. What do you use to get your fundamental news in time with anouncements? Any particular internet sites or news services? Thanks for your comments on this subject.

Deon, Have you tried Dow Jones Newswires? (www.djnewswires.com). Jonsi, RSI and MACD are my favorite indicators. They are very useful for signals, especially when the RSI makes a failure swing and at the same time the MACD swing from + to - or from - to +. Also in addition to my thoughts regarding fundamentals, I think the fundamentals can't pinpoint where the price objective and the risk associated with the trade. Suppose a good news pops up, how would you know how far it could impact the price? Suppose you take a long position, how do you calculate the risk? All this time I can't calculate objective price and stop loss levels ONLY by using fundamentals. If any of you can calculate risk:reward ratio and amount by ONLY using fundamentals, do let me know.

I simply put 2 orders, one 3pips beyond the 5min support, and 1 beyond the 5min resistance 1 min before the annc is due out, then I trail it by the highest/lowest of the last two 5min bars. This means that one order will be an SAR, and one order will pyramid my existing position. It has worked well for me for the past few years.

Which news usually make impact? Wow, this thread is very informative. Thanks to all the posts I am new and I wonder if someone can tell me which news usually make a big impact to the Forex market? From reading the posts above, I have: 1. bank interest rate 2. unemployment rate Are there any other news that is equally important to monitor? Thanks,

Hello alllle You may consider to look here AboutForex. There is a list of Forex Fundamenals on the descending importance. (Look below the weekly calendar). We'll have important USA Non-farm payrolls this Friday (after European banks MPC meetings on Thursday). Take care and have fun

Fundamental Strategy Hi everyone: I've actually made some good trades waiting for news to come out and then placing an order as soon as I see which way the thrustbar is pushing. Problem is sometimes I miss quiet a bit or can't even get my order filled. If I do get in I wait till the first bar starts to hesitate and then get out just in case everyone else is doing the same thing and the price reverses. Once things have settled and the direction is set, then I look for a possible re-entry. From what I understand, the big whipsaws that sometimes occur at this time are caused by two different reports being released at the same time? I am considering basing my trading around announcements as these times seem to usually be very active. Does anyone else trade just around news releases and have a good plan to do it? I notice the next few days there are some big releases coming out. The advice and information found here at MoneyTec is incredible! Thanks for any replies Michael
